The delegation of the Army and the Ministry of Defense, which is paying a visit to Vermont, USA, led by the Chief of General Staff, Major General Sasko Lafchiski, accompanied by the State Secretary in the Ministry, Elizabeta Chupovska Ristova, met yesterday with the Governor of this federal state, Phil Scott, and Vermont National Guard Commander, Major General Gregory Knight.
During the meeting, they discussed the benefits of the Partnership Program over the past three decades, which is implemented through a wide range of activities, such as: conducting joint training and exercises, conferences, visits to military bases, school centers and institutions in the United States, seminars, etc. Additionally, the enormous contribution of the Vermont National Guard Commander, Major General Knight, who has played a key role in the development and success of this program during his tenure, was underlined.
As part of the activities, the Macedonian delegation met with the Commandant of Norwich University, Brigadier General William McCollough, during a visit to this military higher education institution. The renewal of the student exchange program between the Army and the University was the focus of the conversation. This program has played a significant role in strengthening the partnership between the two countries and in supporting the professional and academic development of future military leaders. It remains a key mechanism in the efforts to deepen our institutional ties and promote interoperability.
During the day, the delegation also visited the Northfield Readiness and Regional Technology Center, where the Center’s engagement in the domain of information operations and cybersecurity in our country was presented.
In the next few days, the delegation will attend several presentations and visits to institutions and facilities of mutual interest.
