Contemporary Macedonian Defence

The journal “Contemporary Macedonian Defence” was founded in 2000 and is the first academic, peer-reviewed scientific journal of the Ministry of Defence, which is published continuously and is open to original research and practices in the field of social science, security science, defence science, military sciences and peace and development studies.

“Contemporary Macedonian Defence” publishes papers from the theory and practice of security studies, defence studies and peace and development studies, which make an original contribution to all areas of knowledge covered by research, through the paradigm for regional and global problems in a broader perspective, and the subject of research is the global social system, where the research focus is on the challenges and development of the contemporary world. The prism of security, defence and peace analyzes cannot be only national, but necessarily supranational. Thus, the journal includes analyzes and reviews of issues that affect not only our own country and the region, but also more broadly – the global crisis areas.

The ethical policy of “Contemporary Macedonian Defence” is based on references from various international boards. For this purpose, a Code of Ethics for the editors and authors has been developed.
The editors are solely responsible for accepting or rejecting the submitted paper. The submitted paper may be rejected by the editors before peer review, if: the paper has an inappropriate topic or visibly poor quality, when the essential and formal criteria specified in the journal’s editorial policy are not observed, it has already been published before, there is non-compliance with the journal’s ethical principles, etc.
The papers that have been accepted by the Editorial Board are those that have passed the so-called “blind review”.
The editors ensure that the quality of the papers is in accordance with the internationally accepted scientific and ethical publication guidelines.
Once the first “blind review” has been completed, the editor-in-chief, in a meeting together with the deputy editor-in-chief and the members of the Editorial Board, and in accordance with the copyright and plagiarism regulations, decide whether to accept the received papers for review.
For papers that have passed the “blind review” and are in accordance with the copyright and plagiarism regulations, the Editorial Board designates two independent reviewers. Then, a double blind review is made, that is, the reviewers must not know the names of the authors, and the authors must not know the identity of the reviewers.
The Editorial Board decides on the selection of reviewers based on the competencies for the topic analyzed in the paper.
The editors have an obligation to take into account the anonymity of both reviewers and authors. The editors guarantee the quality of the papers and the integrity of the academic record, take care to clarify the need for corrections to the article and apologize, if necessary.

Reporting standards
The authors of original research papers (scientific research) should present an objective discussion of the meaning of the analysis, the data should be presented precisely and clearly, and the discussion of the research results should be precise and clear, objective of its meaning. Basic data should be presented accurately. The paper should contain references for reproducibility. Inaccurate data constitutes unethical behavior and is unjustified and unacceptable to the Editorial Board.
Review and professional papers should be equally accurate and objective.
After the paper receives two independent positive reviews and the Editorial Board accepts them, the copyright belongs to the publisher of the journal – the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of North Macedonia.
If the paper is not accepted for publication by the Editorial Board, all rights will be retained by the author.
When a paper is accepted for publication, the publisher, the Ministry of Defence, is granted the right to reproduce and distribute the manuscript in print (paper) and electronic form.
