Laying the foundation stone for the new Sports Hall at the Military Academy

Minister of Defence Vlado Misajlovski, together with the President of the Government, Hristijan Mickoski, and the Minister of Sports, Borko Ristovski, today marked the beginning of the construction of a new multi-purpose Sports Hall for the needs of the Military Academy General Mihailo Apostolski and the Macedonian Army.

At the event, Minister Vlado Misajlovski thanked the Ministry of Sports for the cooperation and the support from the Government, underlining that this has been the first investment in a new facility at the Military Academy after its 30 years of existence.

“After 30 years here at the Military Academy, we are starting with the construction of a new facility that would truly mean a lot to both the cadets and students, but also to the entire Army. We are not stopping here, we will continue with many other projects”, said Minister Misajlovski and added that at the last session of the Government, a decision was made for reconstruction, i.e. projects for the Army Hall and the Shar Hotel on Popova Shapka.

The President of the Government, Hristijan Mickoski, emphasized that this sports facility, which would primarily be used by the army, would be an open-type facility.
-This sports hall will be used by cadets from the Military Academy, the army, but if there are empty time slots it will also be open for sports activities of students and citizens from the Municipality of Aerodrom. Although the construction deadline is two years, Minister Ristovski is optimistic that the hall will be ready and we will be able to put it into use as early as next year – said Mickoski.

– Laying the foundation stone for the new Sports Hall represents both a symbolic and essential step towards improving the conditions for physical education and training of the cadets of the Military Academy. This hall is not only a sports facility but also a school where discipline and teamwork will be nurtured – values that are equally important for both sports and military service. As the Ministry of Sports, we remain fully committed to creating modern, functional and accessible conditions for sports – emphasized Ristovski.

This project is the result of the established cooperation and the signed memorandum between the Ministry of Sports and the Military Academy, with the aim of promoting sports activities as part of the education and training of military cadets.

As part of the new hall – a multi-purpose facility, there will also be a grandstand for 400 people, a sub-stand area and changing rooms. The investor is the Ministry of Sports, and the value of this facility is 64,780,000.00 MKD with a construction deadline of 2 years from the start of construction.
