President Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova, Minister Misajlovski and the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, today (10 November) at the Military Academy General Mihailo Apostolski addressed the new class of 31 cadets and 28 students at the officer course who took their oath, thus officially commencing their military education.
President Siljanovska – Davkova said that the cadets are entering the Army when they are most needed, in times of growing hostility and tension, escalating military conflicts and profound geopolitical turmoil.
“As future officers of the Macedonian, as well as NATO army, you are expect to respect and practice the highest professional and moral standards in tackling all types of threats: traditional, as well asymmetrical and hybrid, in different spaces: physical as well as cyber. Yet, you cannot neglect nor forget about the ethical and moral values, if you want to remain human and become respectable people“, said the Commander-in-Chief.
Minister Misajlovski told the new cadets and students that the uniform they are proudly wearing today always represents the responsibility and the values that they defend, stressing that in the army family “integrity and loyalty to the homeland are values that are passed down from generation to generation, and are always both strong and inspiring”.
„You will be faced with challenges that will test your physical fitness, as well as your mental endurance. You will learn how to master the skills of the military profession, you will learn when you need to react quickly, to be decisive, but at the same time patient “, said the Minister. Adding that the process of military education will also teach them that true strength and skill is not only in the knowledge and skills one acquires, but also in the uniqueness of their characters, in the perseverance and in the belief that a person can serve something greater than themselves.
The Minister emphasized that the Academy has been a symbol of excellence, as a higher educational institution that has been creating “for more than 30 years leaders, who with knowledge and patriotism bear the responsibility for the security and stability of our country”.
The Dean of the Academy, Colonel Nenad Taneski, underlined that the oath is a pledge to the flag, and “a centuries-old thread of loyalty that binds every generation that has fought for the freedom of our country.“ the Dean referred to the solemn oath, as a promise that they will guard Macedonia with knowledge, discipline, and love.
“The Military Academy… has been standing on the foundations of these ideals for three decades. Our mission is to create a modern officer — educated, virtuous and determined, a man who understands the weight of the word duty and the greatness of the word honour“, said Taneski.
