"We are strongly committed to the development of national defence capacities that are an integral part of the Alliance's collective defence. This is evident through investments in the defence, but also through the modernization and equipping process that is visible with each passing day," emphasized Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski at today's meeting of the North Atlantic Council at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
Minister Misajlovski emphasized that the state is allocating record funds for defence, which are being invested efficiently and effectively in the process of equipping and modernization in order to meet the NATO Capability Targets in accordance with the planned dynamics.
"Our country is making a step forward in the development of capacities," Misajlovski stressed, pointing out that in the past year alone, significant equipment had already arrived in the country, which, in parallel with the development of human capacity, had enabled the army's Light Infantry Battalion Group to be assessed as "combat-capable of carrying out its mission", in accordance with all NATO standards.
On the side-lines of the meeting, Minister Misajlovski spoke with most of his colleagues, and also had a meeting with the Greek Minister of National Defence, Nikolaos Dendias, at which they discussed the common strategic commitment, a peaceful and stable region, and a strong collective defence.
The meeting highlighted the open, direct and honest communication that contributes to the continuous growth of defence cooperation, as confirmed by the mutual commitment and significant implementation of the annual defence cooperation plan.
Misajlovski added at the meeting that the investments currently being made in the defence and security, as well as the strong investment in the transport network on Corridors 8 and 10, enable stronger defence and greater security for the citizens of both countries.
