Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski, together with his colleagues from Italy, Albania and Bulgaria, Guido Crosetto, Niko Peleschi and Atanas Zapriyanov, yesterday, on the side-lines of the NATO Summit in Washington, signed a Letter of Intent for establishing a harmonized corridor for military mobility within the Pan-European Corridor VIII, for the needs of the Alliance. This is the first international document signed by the new Government.
The goal of this initiative is to enable a faster flow of Alliance military forces and equipment by simplifying national border crossing procedures, especially in times of crisis.
By signing the Letter of Intent, steps are being taken that will significantly increase the efficiency of military logistics and operations, should the need arise. Also, the project will contribute to the improvement of coordination between the signatory countries, as well as the infrastructure along the Corridor, which will enable easier access to the Krivolak military training area.
The corridor will stretch from Italy, through Albania and Macedonia, to Bulgaria, with the possibility of expansion.
This initiative is a practical contribution to the Alliance’s efforts for enhancing the deterrence and defence on the entire territory, a contribution to strengthening military mobility in Europe, as well as advancing cooperation between NATO and the EU.
