Minister of Defence Vlado Misajlovski, today (May 21), met with the Commander of the Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, Admiral George Wikoff, who is on his first working visit to the Ministry and the Army.
At the meeting, Minister Misajlovski thanked the Allied Joint Force Command in Naples for the support provided to the Macedonian contingents in the KFOR mission in Kosovo and the multinational forces on the eastern flank of the Alliance, emphasizing that the country is a credible ally and an active contributor to strengthening NATO security.
"We are committed to strengthening regional security, as well as the collective security of the Alliance, and proof of this is the continued contribution of Macedonian soldiers to the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, and the Alliance's multinational forces on the eastern flank", said Minister Misajlovski.
Minister Misajlovski also addressed military mobility, emphasizing that the country is investing in the development of Corridor 8, as a key corridor connecting the Black Sea with the Adriatic Sea.
At the meeting with General Lafchiski, the discussion revolved aroud the current security situation in the region, the achievement of NATO capability goals, the possibilities for implementing exercise activities on Macedonian territory, as well as the promotion of interoperability and the further strengthening of cooperation within the Alliance.
As part of the visit, Admiral Wikoff will also be received by President and Commander-in-Chief Gordana Siljanovska Davkova.
