Today, at the meeting held in the Ministry with U.S. Ambassador Aggeler, the new Defense Attaché, Colonel Daniel Squyres and Lieutenant Colonel Sean Ruffolo, Chief of the Office for Defense Cooperation, Minister Misajlovski expressed his gratitude for the continuous support provided by our strategic partner the United States for the development of our country, especially for the development of the defense capabilities.
“Together with our strategic partner, we are strengthening our national, regional security and collective defense in the Alliance. A peaceful and stable region is especially important for the progress of all the countries of the Western Balkans, and the Macedonian Army, as a proven ally, will continue to actively contribute to the peace support operations”, emphasized Minister Misajlovski.
He underlined that for the past 30 years, the United States had actively contributed to a stable region, and thanks to the training, education and professional development programs, as well as the support for modernization and equipping of the Army, today the members of the Army are making a significant contribution as part of the NATO command structures and NATO, EU and UN led peacekeeping missions.
Both sides expressed their confidence that the excellent defense cooperation established between the two countries will continue to intensify.
The topic of discussion at the meeting, among other, was the current security situation in the region and on the European continent with respect to the preservation of security, stability and peace of the citizens, as well as the upcoming NATO Summit to be held next month in Washington.
