Misajlovski at the celebration of 30 years of the Military Academy: You are an important higher education institution in the country and the region, a pillar on which future officers and non-commissioned officers are built

Education is a fundamental value in building a society, and military education is the pillar on which officer and non-commissioned officer personnel are built, said Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski at today’s celebration of the 30th anniversary of founding of the Military Academy “General Mihailo Apostolski” at the “Goce Delchev” barracks in Skopje. The ceremony was also attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski.

Misajlovski said that the academy “has grown into an important higher education institution in the country and the region over the past 30 years”, and attributed the success to the dedication of the educational staff who contribute to building young cadets into professionals prepared and motivated to take on a leadership role.

“The Academy, through its curricula which also incorporates the study of leadership abilities of distinguished figures such as General Apostolski and other significant figures from Macedonian history, laying the solid foundations for the education of personnel prepared to follow the vow of our national heroes”, said the Minister.

He also referred to the regional character of the Academy, stating that “the education of cadets from the neighbourhood contributes to strengthening the cooperation, exchanging experiences between the countries of the region, and promoting dialogue that creates a network of future officers prepared for cooperation and interoperability”.

The Minister congratulated the new Dean of the Academy, Colonel Nenad Taneski, on assuming this important position and thanked the previous Dean, Colonel Mitko Bogdanovski, for his contribution to the development of this educational institution.

Colonel Taneski emphasized that “in the past 30 years, the Academy has built itself as the only military higher education institution in the country, which has laid the foundations for quality, tradition and continuous development”, indicating that “ever since the first generations to date, 1,234 cadets, of which 74 were foreigners from NATO and partner countries, have become officers, leaders and top professionals through their training and education”.

The monograph “30 Years Military Academy” was also promoted during the ceremony, as a major work that marks the history, achievements, and contribution of the Academy to the state and society.

Activities are currently underway to build a new sports hall for the needs of the Military Academy, the first facility to be built in 30 years which will contribute to improving the conditions for training and development of our future officers.
