Today, on the sidelines of the Defense Industry Fair in Istanbul – IDEF 25, Minister of Defense Vlado Misajlovski, together with the Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski, met with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Türkiye, Yaşar Güler.
The meeting highlighted the long-standing active defense cooperation based on the shared vision of maintaining the stability and security of the region and the development of both countries. As they agreed at the meeting, we continue to strengthen the partnership through an exchange of knowledge and expertise in all areas.
Minister Misajlovski also referred to the latest new and sophisticated equipment that has become part of the Army’s arsenal – the Turkish-manufactured “Boran” howitzers, which are part of the declared artillery battery of the Light Infantry Battalion Group, emphasizing that “the Macedonian Army is convinced in the quality of the Turkish military industry” and expressed gratitude for the continued support from Türkiye, especially in the development of army capacities.
“The Macedonian Army is going through the most intensive process of modernization and equipping ever, which is undoubtedly an investment in the security of Macedonian citizens. A stronger Army means a more reliable and safer collective defense in NATO,” the Minister said.
Yesterday evening, as part of his visit to Türkiye and participation in the IDEF 25 defense industry fair, Minister Misajlovski also met with the President of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency, Haluk Görgün, with whom he discussed the development of the defense industry and the need for increased investments in this area, as a way to strengthen the security of allies.
The Turkish military industry is of interest to the Macedonian defense, especially considering that the Army has already been equipped with six new 105mm howitzers and associated equipment from the companies “Boran” and “Aselasan” which were recently promoted to the Macedonian public.
