Misajlovski: Only with stable funding we will succeed in developing defense capabilities

On today’s second day of the meeting of Defense Ministers of the North Atlantic Council held at NATO HQ in Brussels, the Kingdom of Belgium, the achievements, development of capabilities, logistics, operations, capabilities in relation to the NATO Concept of Deterrence and Defense within the Euro-Atlantic area were discussed.

 

Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski emphasized that the threshold for the Defense Budget to be at least 2% of GDP is a priority. The Macedonian Government is resolute in terms of investments for development and modernization of defense capacities, and therefore the Budget for 2025 has already been proposed, which will ensure stable project funding.

“We are committed to fulfilling the national and obligations arising from our membership in NATO. Only with stable funding will we be able to develop defense capabilities”, Minister Misajlovski concluded.

On the sidelines of the meeting, together with his colleagues from Romania, Italy, Albania and Bulgaria, Minister Misajlovski signed today an Annex to the Letter of Intent for harmonizing Corridor 8, following the expressed intention of ally Romania to join this Initiative, which is of particular importance for facilitating military mobility in order to deter and defend the eastern flank of the Alliance.
