Minister of Defense, Vlado Misajlovski, who leads the Macedonian delegation during the working visit to the United States of America, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, met with Amanda Dory, Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, at the Pentagon.
The Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Amanda Dory, emphasized the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, expressing readiness for further deepening of the mutual cooperation. During the meeting, Undersecretary Dory expressed her satisfaction with our commitment to modernize the Macedonian Army and with our readiness to deal with common defense challenges, as a member of the NATO Alliance.
At the meeting, Minister Misajlovski expressed his gratitude for the US support in the modernization and equipping process and said that we remain fully committed to joint cooperation, according to the Roadmap for Defense Cooperation, which is an expression of our common defense goals. Misajlovski underlined that the help and support we receive from the USA is of great importance, with a view to strengthen the national defense capacities, modernize the Army and fulfill the international obligations.
After the meeting at the Pentagon, Minister Misajlovski visited the “Arlington” Memorial Center in Washington, where he paid tribute to the fallen American soldiers and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
As part of the visit, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, Elizabeta Chupovska Ristova and the Chief of the General Staff, General Sashko Lafchiski, had a meeting with Tressa Guenov, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security, to discuss the modalities for strengthening the defense cooperation.
