Chupovska – Ristova met with Ambassador Drexler, confirmation of the excellent defence cooperation with Germany

The State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Elizabeta Chupovska Ristova, today (4 February), met with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Petra Drexler, to discuss the development of defence cooperation between the two countries.

Chupovska Ristova stressed that our country remains strongly committed to the three pillars of defence – stable budgeting, equipping and modernizing the Army, and the advancement of the human resources in the defence.

“We are firmly committed to investing in the defence. The 2025 budget is at the level that we have jointly agreed with the allies, which is 2 percent of gross domestic product, of which over 32 percent is allocated for equipping and modernizing the Army. This is proof that our country is committed to developing its defence capabilities that strengthen the collective defence in the Alliance” said the State Secretary.

She expressed her appreciation for all the German support to date with respect to the development of army capacities, which has been visible in various areas, such as defence policy, logistics, military medicine, CBRN and various types of trainings and education in German centers.

Our country remains committed to this cooperation, and this has been confirmed by the announced staff talks between the two countries last month to discuss the development of joint projects and activities in the future.

The two Allied countries have been cooperating in the field of defense since 1996, with the signing of the Cooperation Agreement in the Military Field.
