Meeting Misajlovski – Pierce: Macedonian-British defence cooperation at the highest level, the United Kingdom remains our strong ally

Today (14 May), Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski met with the new UK Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Dame Karen Pierce, to whom he expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the United Kingdom in developing the capabilities of the Macedonian Army.

“Our two countries have decades of intense defence cooperation which, especially after NATO membership, has reached its full potential,” said Misajlovski, adding that all this cooperation has significantly strengthened the ties between the two Armies and their personnel.

The Minister underlined that the defence and the Army remain open to continuous development of cooperation in every area – defence policy, military training and education, language training, and advisory support from the United Kingdom, which have been implemented multiple times to date.

“We will continue to be a close partner and strong ally of North Macedonia in NATO. The United Kingdom remains fully committed to strengthening stability, security, and economic cooperation in the region,” said Dame Karen Pierce.

The meeting at the Ministry of Defense was also attended by His Majesty’s Ambassador, Matthew Lawson, and the Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Edward John Green.
