Today (3 October), in the "Boris Trajkovski" hall, the Minister of Defence Vlado Misajlovski opened the 26th traditional memorial futsal tournament, co-organized by the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Interior, and the "2001 – 2015 Heroes of Macedonia " association. The tournament is organized in honour of the fallen members of the Army in 2001 and the fallen members of the police from the events in Kumanovo in 2015.
Before the Director of the Public Security Bureau, Aleksandar Janev, and the members of the teams from the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Interior, and the Macedonian Army, Minister Misajlovski emphasized that we must preserve the memory of those who gave their lives for the state and pass that memory on to the next generations.
"What we need to do is to unite and show that the heroes are not forgotten. I thank every single member of the Army, everyone who wears the uniform and works daily for our country. The Ministry of Defence will always be here to help and worthily show respect to the heroes," stated the minister.
We will do our best to show respect and to show that every single generation should pass this on to future generations, said Misajlovski, adding – "we should never forget the ones who gave everything for their homeland."
The Director of the PSB, Janev, emphasized that for 24 years, the tournament had been keeping alive the memory of those who laid down their lives for Macedonia, its peace, and the safety of its citizens.
"Today we are not here just because of the tradition. We are here because we have an obligation to remember. To remember our colleagues, friends, brothers, husbands, fathers, and sons who wore the uniform with honour and who, performing their duty, made the greatest sacrifice a person can make. Their names are not just a part of the history of our security forces. They are a part of the history of Macedonia," emphasized Janev.
